Penn State DuBois has announced the campus Dean’s List for the Spring 2020 semester. In recognition of academic excellence, students who maintain a Grade Point Average of 3.50 or higher are named to the Dean's List each semester.
Penn State DuBois Continuing and Community Education will offer a two-session course in November intended to train individuals in the reading and understanding of blueprints.
Students in the Penn State DuBois Criminal Justice program are learning real-world lessons in maintaining good relations between law enforcement, the corrections system, and the community. As part of a project for the course “Criminal Justice and the Community” Lecturer of Criminal Justice Selena Price tasked students with conducting a survey to gather information on the perceptions of the criminal justice system and the police.
Ben Franklin Technology Partners has once again teamed up with the North Central PA LaunchBox and a list of other partners to offer the BIG Idea Contest. Partners are looking for tech innovators or small manufacturers located in Indiana, Jefferson, Clearfield, or Cambria counties in Pennsylvania who are developing new products, processes or software applications. Winning applicants could take home up to $50,000 for their idea.
Penn State DuBois will host a virtual presentation by 2020-21 Penn State Laureate David Witwer beginning at 12:15 p.m. on Sept. 21. His program, “Searching for Jimmy Hoffa: The Disappearance of America’s Most Notorious Labor Leader and Why It Still Matters Today” represents a culmination of many years of Witwer’s personal research into this cultural phenomenon.
The first scholarship at Penn State DuBois to be established as part of Penn State’s new Educational Equity Matching Program has been created in memory of Maurice George Verbeke.
Penn State has launched an integrated effort to remind faculty, staff and students at all campuses and in adjacent communities of the importance of doing their part to limit the spread of COVID-19. “Mask Up or Pack Up” is a research-based campaign that is also launched in State College to create a seamless message for students and other members of the community.
Four awardees have been selected to receive this year’s Penn State DuBois Alumni Society awards. Nicole A. Shaffer, 2006, will receive the Dave Shaffer Outstanding Young Alumni Award; Francie Erickson Spigelmyer, 1983, will receive the Outstanding Alumni Award; Thomas G. Gasbarre, 1975, receives the Distinguished Ambassador Award; and Edward Nasuti, 1974, has been named the recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award.
