Penn State DuBois celebrates #GivingTuesday, pledges to future fund, honors

This #GivingTuesday, Penn State DuBois will celebrate giving by supporting the campus Future Fund and Honors Scholarship. #GivingTuesday is a global day of giving that harnesses the collective power of individuals, communities and organizations to encourage philanthropy and to celebrate generosity worldwide. Following Thanksgiving and the widely recognized shopping events Black Friday and Cyber Monday, this year’s #GivingTuesday will kick off at 6:55 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 2, and run through Dec. 3.

DuBois men split in conference play

The Penn State DuBois men's basketball team started off conference play this weekend at home, hosting Penn State Hazleton on Friday, and Penn State Schuylkill on Saturday.

Students team up with local police for child safety event

Students in the Administration of Justice program at Penn State DuBois partnered with police on Nov. 19 in efforts to improve the safety of area children, as well as to foster a relationship between the community and police officers. Students joined Sandy Township Police at their station for the “Children’s Paw Prints with the Police” event.

Workshops highlight educational opportunities for students poised to succeed

Faculty and staff members at Penn State DuBois hosted a collection of workshops on Nov. 20 to help introduce area middle and high school students to some of the options they'll have in both higher education, as well as careers. The Gifted Workshop series was aimed specifically at students in gifted or advanced curriculums, and welcomed more than 40 students in grades seven through 12.

Students share impact of international travel following trip to Ireland

A group of three Penn State DuBois honors students recently shared experiences they gained during a trip to Ireland with the campus Honors Program. John Mark Miller, Andrew Mahle, and Makayla Whaling took the international travel opportunity, available exclusively to honors students, to bolster their educational experience through immersion in another culture.

Mengle Foundation commits $15,000 to support North Central PA LaunchBox

The Glenn and Ruth Mengle Foundation of St. Marys, Pennsylvania, has made a $15,000 gift to support the North Central PA LaunchBox Powered by Penn State DuBois. These funds will be used to enhance the downtown LaunchBox location with state-of-the-art technical equipment that will be made available to entrepreneurs and business representatives using the facility.

DuBois volleyball players named All-Americans

Three Penn State DuBois volleyball players have been named All-Americans by the United States Collegiate Athletic Association for their play on the court. Allison Easton earned 1st Team All-American, Jenna Hyde earned 2nd Team All-American, and Skylar Ceprish earned Honorable Mention.
