DuBOIS, Pa. — Holiday shopping will look different this year during the COVID-19 pandemic. To help shoppers and business owners navigate this uncharted climate, Penn State DuBois Continuing and Community Education and the North Central PA LaunchBox will co-host a webinar titled “Holiday Shopping During COVID: What Should Main Streets Expect?” from noon to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 18, via Zoom.
Those who would like to participate are asked to RSVP for the webinar at https://pennstate.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_5nYHbdzE1XxkEJv. Upon registration, the webinar link will be sent via email.
This program and partnership are made possible by Penn State Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW), which will be held Nov. 16-20. Penn State GEW partners with Invent Penn State to help advance economic development, student career success and job creation. These efforts aim to create unique opportunities for student engagement and build upon classroom learning with real-world interactions within and outside of the University community.
Matthew Wagner, vice president of revitalization programs at the National Main Street Center Inc., will present the program. Wagner is responsible for the center’s field service initiatives, including the development and delivery of technical services for the Main Street America and Urban Main programs, professional development programming through the Main Street America Institute, and directing the center’s research agenda.
Wagner will present a holiday shopping season outlook with tips on how downtown areas can encourage holiday shopping at small businesses.
Global Entrepreneurship Week is a collaboration between the University and local communities across the commonwealth. Penn State GEW works closely with the Centre County and Commonwealth Campus communities to provide educational and experiential opportunities for professionals and participants interested in engaging with local businesses. In addition, all students, regardless of college affiliation or major, are invited to attend any GEW event that interests them.
