Personal care home administrator virtual training begins Feb. 23

In a continuing effort to offer training relevant to the area workforce needs, Penn State DuBois Continuing and Community Education will again offer the Personal Care Home Administrator Training program virtually through Zoom beginning in February. The 100-hour program will prepare graduates to enter a career in administration of long-term personal care facilities.

University urges COVID-19 testing for students prior to returning home

In preparation for the departure from campuses after in-person instruction ends on Nov. 20, Penn State has announced an aggressive fall departure plan offering all students COVID-19 testing, at no cost to students. Penn State is partnering with Vault Health for departure testing, which will be conducted either in person at predetermined testing sites on certain campuses or via self-administered test kits. Students can now book their appointment to receive an administered test or to pick up a self-test by using the Return Home Event on the Penn State Go App or by visiting virusinfo.psu.edu/departure-testing.

Rock Ethics seeks nominations for Stand Up Awards

The Rock Ethics Institute is now accepting nominations for the 2021 Stand Up Awards. Any faculty, staff, student or community member may nominate undergraduate students in any major from any campus for a Stand Up Award, which recognizes Penn State undergraduates who have demonstrated ethical leadership by "standing up" for a cause, idea or belief.

Penn State DuBois to host virtual event for those dealing with loss

The Penn State DuBois Office of Student Engagement in partnership with the Human Development and Family Studies program coordinator Jessica Clontz is co-hosting a virtual community viewing of the WPSU documentary “Speaking Grief” in November. A panel discussion featuring three bereavement experts will immediately follow.

Penn State DuBois students offer virtual fall-prevention program to area seniors

As faculty members at Penn State DuBois continue to innovate methods of virtual instruction during the COVID-19 pandemic, some have also developed ways to reach out to the community in unique ways. Director of the Penn State DuBois Occupational Therapy Assistant program LuAnn Demi worked to adapt her usual fall-prevention program for senior citizens to a virtual presentation via Zoom this October.
