The 2018 Small College World Series Champion Penn State DuBois baseball team is ready to take the field again for a short “fall ball” season. They’ll kick things off at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 16, as they play host to Jamestown Community College in a doubleheader at Showers Field.
Members of the Penn State and local communities are invited to celebrate Constitution Day with on-campus events at University Park on Monday, Sept. 17, as well as activities at a number of Penn State campuses.
On Friday night, the Penn State DuBois Lady Lions traveled to Butler to take on BCCC for their first match of the season. DuBois won three straight 25-19, 25-20 and 25-14.
Penn State DuBois, in conjunction with Penn State Berks, will bring to the region a certificate program in the field of automation. Process Instrumentation and Control is geared for individuals looking to enter or move up within the field of automation. This three-course certificate program also will help attendees better manage employees working in this field of technology.
No one ever plans to be the victim of a violent attack, but as acts of violence continue to make headlines across the nation, it’s important to plan ahead and know what to do before being confronted with an emergency. To help students, faculty and staff be prepared to respond to a potentially life-threatening situation, Penn State has adopted Run, Hide, Fight, replacing StaySAFE as the University’s official active-attacker response.
Penn State DuBois Chancellor M. Scott McBride welcomed new students and their families during Convocation Ceremonies in the campus gymnasium on Thursday, kicking off New Student Orientation and the new academic year.
With a $30,000 gift, members of leadership at S&T Bank have established an Open Doors Scholarship at Penn State DuBois. Through the program, the University offered a 2:1 match to donors like S&T bank who made a minimum $30,000 pledge, payable over five years, to establish an Open Doors Scholarship before June 30. The University is currently offering a 1:1 match to gifts of $50,000 or more to create new Open Doors Scholarships.
Penn State DuBois Continuing and Community Education is offering technical workshops and supervision courses this fall at the Community Education Center, located at 4 Erie Ave. in St. Marys. These programs aid those employed in the manufacturing industry, as well as other businesses that need important and up-to-date training for their supervisors.
In a continuing effort to offer training relevant to the area workforce needs, Penn State DuBois Continuing and Community Education will offer the Nursing Home Administrator Training Program this fall. The 120-hour program will prepare graduates to enter a career in administration of long-term personal care facilities.
All members of the community are welcome to support Penn State DuBois at the campus' first Benefit Celebration, planned for Oct. 6 at the DuBois Country Club. Featured entertainment will be provided by Leonard, Coleman and Blunt, the former lead singers of the Temptations, the Platters, and the Drifters.
