Important Automation Certificate offered at Penn State DuBois

DUBOIS, Pa. — Penn State DuBois, in conjunction with Penn State Berks, will bring to the region a certificate program in the field of automation. Process Instrumentation and Control is geared for individuals looking to enter or move up within the field of automation. This three-course certificate program also will help attendees better manage employees working in this field of technology.

These courses may be taken online from a home or work computer, or arrangements can be made locally for a classroom to be set up either in St. Marys or DuBois if a number of students would prefer to take the class as a group. The class meets Wednesday evenings from 7-8 p.m., starting on Oct. 10.

An informational webinar will be held at noon on Sept. 11 for those wanting to learn more about the program. A course outline and additional information can be provided for those wishing to see the different components of the three courses by contacting John Brennan at [email protected]

This is a unique online program at Penn State DuBois and will be offered in three modules. The first course title, ENGR 5131: Sensors and Symbology, will begin during the fall 2018 semester on Oct. 10. The subsequent courses, ENGR 5132: Control Functions (spring 2019 – March 20, 2019) and ENGR 5133: Installation and Engineering Functions (summer 2019 – June 19, 2019), must all be completed and an average grade of “C” (70 percent) or better must be achieved to receive the certificate and 15 continuing education units.

The cost of the individual classes would be $995 each, but those wishing to receive the certificate should register for all three classes at the same time in order to receive a discount. The cost for those registering for all three classes in advance is $2,785. Contact the Penn State Berks Continuing Education Department in advance at 610-396-6221 to receive the discount.
