The Annual THON Dancer Sendoff Dinner and Hair Auction is the biggest fund-raising event for Penn State DuBois for THON each year, and it did not disappoint in 2020. At the end of the night, total funds raised this season for THON by DuBois students reached $32,082 to support the fight against childhood cancer, breaking the previous campus record. With donations accepted through Feb. 23, that number is still climbing.
The Penn State DuBois men's basketball team came into the Feb. 11 evening game needing each win to try to secure their playoff spot in the PSUAC. In a jumbled fight for fourth place with Penn State Beaver and Penn State Fayette, DuBois played host to Penn State Shenango on Tuesday, coming out on top 70-59.
The Penn State DuBois women's basketball team hosted the Knights from Central Penn Tuesday evening, coming close but losing the contest 75-62. DuBois came into the game 12-8 overall on the season and has all but sealed the a PSUAC playoff spot.
The Penn State DuBois men's basketball team hosted Penn State Greater Allegheny on Saturday afternoon, Feb. 1. DuBois came into the contest on a three-game winning streak in the Penn State University Athletic Conference, and a fourth consecutive victory would have boosted the team into a tie for a playoff spot. DuBois, however, fell short, taking a 65-58 loss to Greater Allegheny.
The Penn State DuBois women's basketball team had another dominant performance over visiting Penn State Greater Allegheny on Saturday afternoon, Feb. 1. Taking a 31-18 lead going into the half, DuBois held Greater Allegheny to just 25% shooting from the field in the first half, including only 1 of 5 from the 3-point line. DuBois ended the game with a 72-52 victory.
On Feb. 3, all students, faculty and staff members at every Penn State campus location will receive an email to take the Penn State Community Survey to share their attitudes and experiences of community, diversity and inclusion at Penn State. Every 100 survey takers will have a chance to win an Amazon or Starbucks gift card.
More than 200 Penn State DuBois students were named to the Dean's List for the fall 2019 semester. To qualify for the Dean's List, full-time undergraduate students must maintain a 3.5 or higher grade-point average.
In a continuing effort to offer training relevant to the area workforce needs, Penn State DuBois Continuing and Community Education will offer the Personal Care Home Administrator Training program in spring 2020. The 100-hour program will prepare graduates to enter a career in administration of long-term personal care facilities.
