THON spaghetti dinner at Penn State DuBois rescheduled

A spaghetti dinner to benefit THON at Penn State DuBois, originally scheduled for Dec. 6 has been postponed due to unexpected delays in a campus renovation project. The dinner is now planned for 4 to 7:30 p.m. on Jan. 30 in the Student Union at Penn State DuBois.

Be ready when inclement weather strikes

In years past, weather events caused a delay in the start of activities and classes at University Park campus. When a delay is announced at University Park, employees who perform nonessential services are to report at the announced time. Classes and activities that begin before the announced time are canceled. Inclement weather is likely any time now through March. When it does strike, the Penn State community should check WPSU-FM and Penn State Live -- the official sources for weather-related delay or cancellation advisories at Penn State's University Park campus. In addition, advisories will be sent directly to cell phones via PSUTXT.

Penn State DuBois Music Fest benefits THON

A group of young musicians rallied together For the Kids at one local community's center for the arts. Music Fest was held at the Clearfield Arts Studio Theatre (CAST) on Saturday, Nov. 19. The event featured popular local bands Twin Reverb and Mutual Friends, as well as other entertainers including Penn State DuBois students. It was organized by Penn State DuBois THON Committee member Alaina Shaffer.

Students give to those in need this Thanksgiving

Some Penn State DuBois students have given area families something extra to be thankful for this Thanksgiving. Human Development and Family Studies (HDFS) students took on a project through the HDFS Club to distribute Thanksgiving care packages to homeless shelters throughout the region.

Make reservations for Breakfast with Santa and Mrs. Claus

Santa and Mrs. Claus will once again make a stop at Penn State DuBois this Christmas season for the 22nd Annual Breakfast with Santa. Timeslots for breakfast will be available between 8:00 a.m. and 10:15 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 10, in the Hiller Building Student Union. The cost is $4.00 per person, which benefits the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

Workshops at Penn State DuBois help gifted students to identify career paths

Students enrolled in gifted programs from school districts throughout the region participated in a program at Penn State DuBois on Nov. 9 that could help them identify their career path. The Gifted Workshops brought to campus approximately 30 students of various grade levels from Redbank Valley, Brockway, Brookville, and DuBois.

Assistive Technology Fair demonstrates options for people with disabilities

Hosted by the campus Occupational Therapy Club in conjunction with the Office of Vocational Rehabilitation, an Assistive Technology Fair was held at Penn State DuBois on Nov. 9. The event featured a dozen vendors from around the area who offer specialized equipment to assist people with special needs in completing tasks around their home, in the classroom, or at work.

Leadership expert and Penn State Alumni Fellow Craig Pearce visited Penn State DuBois on Friday, Oct. 28, offering a presentation on his strategies for shared leadership. According to Pearce, implementing shared responsibility for leadership throughout the reporting structure of a business or organization improves overall operation and productivity.
