Palumbo Charitable Trust grows scholarship fund

The A.J. and Sigismunda Palumbo Charitable Trust has donated an additional $40,000 to a scholarship fund that will help students attain an education at Penn State DuBois. The fund, The Palumbo Scholarship at Penn State DuBois, was established in 2008 with a $25,000 gift from the Palumbo Charitable Trust. To date, the trust has gifted $270,000 to campus scholarship funds.

Penn State DuBois students donate to local food pantry

Penn State DuBois students who traveled to New Orleans on an alternative Spring Break service trip have completed a food drive benefiting the DuBois Ministerial Food Pantry. The drive netted 413 packaged, nonperishable food items, plus $362.

Students, faculty, staff recognized at 76th annual Honors Convocation

The 76th annual Delta Mu Sigma Honors Convocation at Penn State DuBois recognized outstanding students, faculty, and staff members on Friday night in the campus' Hiller Auditorium. Awards at the Honors Convocation recognize students for a wide range of accomplishments, from academic excellence, to overcoming hardships to succeed. Members of the staff and faculty were celebrated for their commitment to supporting students and for their service to the campus and community.

The Delta Mu Sigma Honor Society at Penn State DuBois has inducted 16 new members for the spring 2015 semester during the annual Scholarship Luncheon, held at Lifetime Celebrations in DuBois on April 17.

Doty receives University-wide Achieving Women Award

Penn State DuBois Assistant Director of Student Affairs Marly Doty has received the university-wide 2015 Achieving Women Award from Penn State's Commission for Women. She was presented with the award during the annual Commission for Women Luncheon at University Park.

Campus program gives middle and high school students a look at career options

Students enrolled in gifted programs at school districts from across the region explored career options at Penn State DuBois on Wednesday. A special workshop for gifted students focused on physical therapy assistant, occupational therapy assistant, and engineering degree programs offered at the campus, providing the students with insight on a variety of career choices. A total of 40 students ranging from grade seven, through grade 12 attended, coming from school districts including Oil City, West Forest, Brookville, Redbank, Brockway, DuBois, and AC Valley.

Loeb earns Eisenhower Award for Distinguished Teaching

Robert Loeb, associate professor of biology and forestry at Penn State DuBois, has been presented with the 2015 Milton S. Eisenhower Award for Distinguished Teaching. The award recognizes excellence in teaching and student support among tenured faculty who have been employed at Penn State, full time, for at least five years, with undergraduate teaching as a major portion of their duties. It is named for Milton S. Eisenhower, brother of former U.S. President Dwight D. Eisenhower, who served as president of Penn State from 1950 to 1956.

Student earns Felbaum Scholarship for Wildlife and Conservation Education

Penn State DuBois Earth Sciences student Nicky Leigey, of Clearfield, Pennsylvania, has been awarded the Frank Felbaum Scholarship from the Pennsylvania Chapter of The Wildlife Society (PATWS) for this academic year. She was presented with a plaque and notification of her acceptance for the scholarship at the Pennsylvania Chapter of PATWS Conference last weekend.
