DuBois wildlife technology students continue conservation efforts at area lake

Efforts to sustain and increase wildlife species at an area lake are picking up this spring with a great deal of help from students in the Penn State DuBois wildlife technology program. The students have partnered with the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission and the Jefferson County Conservation District to provide habitat development at Kyle Lake, a man-made body of water located in Washington Township, Jefferson County.

New students aim to 'Stop Hunger Now' at DuBois orientation

First-year students beginning their career in higher education at Penn State DuBois this semester kicked off the academic year with an enormous service project during New Student Orientation. The students volunteered with Stop Hunger Now, an organization that supplies nutritional meals to people around the globe, helping to sustain underprivileged people wherever there is a need.

Incoming men's basketball team introduced at Penn State DuBois

Penn State DuBois men's basketball head coach Dylan Howard has announced the 2016 recruiting class. The team will include 13 new players to preseason this fall. The new faces will join nine returners from last season’s team that went 15-10 overall and earned the No. 5 seed in the PSUAC playoffs.

Nationwide robotics competition kicks off at Penn State DuBois

The first round of a nation-wide robotics competition for middle and high school students will take place at Penn State DuBois in October. BEST (Boosting Engineering, Science and Technology) got underway on Saturday (Sept. 10) with the official Kickoff Day, as teams assembled on campus to gather information and the supplies they'll need to build their robot.

Future leaders in wildlife conservation visit campus

A group of young people interested in careers focused on wildlife conservation or research visited Penn State DuBois on Monday to learn about educational opportunities that could interest them. A total of 19 high school age students visited as members of the Wildlife Leadership Academy, based in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania, and they learned more about the Penn State DuBois Wildlife Technology degree program during their visit.

Penn State DuBois students and faculty lobby for health care solutions

A total of 10 Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) students from Penn State DuBois, as well as two of their faculty members from the OTA program attended the American Occupational Therapy Association’s (AOTA) 2016 Hill Day in Washington, D.C., on Sept. 19. More than 650 politically active occupational therapy practitioners and occupational therapy students from across the United States descended on Capitol Hill to make their voices heard during the profession's annual advocacy event.

'Walk a Mile' event raises awareness of violence against women

A total of 40 men from Penn State DuBois stepped into high heels Sept. 28 for the Walk a Mile in Her Shoes event. The men's march is meant to raise awareness of the battle against rape, sexual assault, and gender violence, and to get more men involved in the fight. The men marched through campus, as well as off campus, along Route 255, and down Liberty Boulevard, then back. The round trip added up to the men walking a full mile in their pumps.
