DuBois women's basketball get first win on the road

The Penn State DuBois women's basketball team traveled to Lorain County Community College this weekend for the Lorain County Commodore Classic.  One of four teams in the field, DuBois was slated to play against the host school on Saturday. With home court advantage on the side of Lorain County, Coach Lewis's DuBois team knew they had to start off on the right foot.

They did just that as they came out shooting. The Lady Lions went 10-25 from the field, and a perfect 7-7 from the free throw line as they put up 27 points in the first quarter of play, and never looked back.

A defensive adjustment at halftime from the DuBois coaching staff put Lorain County on the ropes even more in front of their home crowd as DuBois held their opponents to just seven points in the third quarter.

The Lady Lions would not let up for the rest of the way either, and they would go on to win the game on the road, 90-56.

Maddie Sprankle (Johnstown, Pennsylvania) would lead the Lady Lions with 16 points.  Malliah Schreck (Emlenton, Pennsylvania) posted a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds, and three players would each score 11 for DuBois, Allison Easton (Coudersport, Pennsylvania), Lexey Shick (Rimersburg, Pennsylvania), and Cierra O'Shell (Coalport, Pennsylvania).

The Lady Lions are back in action on Tuesday, Nov. 5 for their first home game of the year against Butler County Community College. Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m.
