Penn State DuBois awarded 2015 Military Friendly Schools designation

Victory Media, a media entity for military personnel transitioning into civilian life, has named Penn State DuBois to the Military Friendly Schools list. The 2015 Military Friendly Schools list honors the top 20 percent of colleges, universities and trade schools that are doing the most to embrace America's military service members, veterans and spouses as students, and ensure their success on campus.

Google. It's a global company with a name so well known that in common vernacular it's often used as a verb. "Google it" is a phrase that has ended many an argument over everything from baseball statistics, to pop culture trivia, because the internet search engine that became a household name puts limitless information at the fingertips of nearly anyone. So, it's no small accomplishment that a recent graduate of the Penn State DuBois Information Sciences and Technology program has landed a job with the technology leader right out of college.

DuBois Alumni Fellow and gas industry leader shares expertise on campus

David Spigelmyer, the recipient of the 2014 Alumni Fellow Award for Penn State DuBois, spoke Oct. 9 in Hillier Auditorium on campus to an audience of students, faculty and staff, as well as members of the public, about his work in the natural gas industry. A Penn State DuBois alumnus and a 1982 graduate of the University with a bachelor's degree in public service, Spigelmyer is president of the Pittsburgh-based Marcellus Shale Coalition (MSC), the region’s largest shale gas development trade association.

Job fair connects occupational therapy assistant grads with careers

Students in the Penn State DuBois Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) program met face-to-face with potential employers during the OTA Job Fair held on campus on Oct. 10. The training they receive in the OTA associate degree program will prepare them to work with a licensed occupational therapist and administer therapy to people who have been injured, or suffer from debilitating illnesses.
