Penn State to recognize class of 2020 with virtual commencement ceremony

In response to the growing coronavirus pandemic, orders from the state government and recommendations from global public health organizations, Penn State will hold its spring 2020 commencement ceremony via livestream on May 9. The virtual ceremony will recognize all Penn State undergraduate students and all graduate students in the Penn State Graduate School.

Remote learning connects students with NASA and other leading scientists

As individuals around the globe adjust to new ways of working and learning during the COVID-19 pandemic, some Penn State DuBois students are participating in real, out-of-this-world learning opportunities right from their own homes. Penn State DuBois’ Associate Professor of Mathematics and Geoscience Neyda Abreu has established a multidisciplined research group of undergraduate students that is connecting weekly with scientists from NASA and other organizations via Zoom.

Winners of Techcelerator Competition receive $10K award

Two award-winning entrepreneurs will split the top prize for business ideas submitted to Ben Franklin Technology Partner’s Techcelerator Competition. Kristen and Boyd Lewis with EasyRaising fundraising will receive $5,000 to be used for the development of their business idea for improving school and community fundraising. Evan Klapec of EMKO Technologies will also receive $5,000 to develop a new dust collection system for auto body shops.

'Navigating COVID-19' for small businesses offered via Zoom on March 27

The Penn State Small Business Development Center and the North Central PA LaunchBox are hosting “Navigating COVID-19: Resources and Relief for Small Businesses,” a free, one-hour video conference via Zoom on Friday, March 27. This webinar is open to all small business owners seeking resources and financial/legal assistance as they navigate the COVID-19 crisis.

University taking action to continue addressing the challenges of coronavirus

As the rapidly evolving novel coronavirus outbreak continues to make headlines across the globe, Penn State Executive Vice President and Provost Nicholas P. Jones has shared an update on the proactive steps the University is taking to confront this threat and manage the risks to our community. "The partnership and vigilance of our entire community is needed at this time to make responsible decisions," Jones wrote in a guest post on President Eric Barron's Digging Deeper blog.
