Penn State DuBois to host multi-talented performer Rob Thomas on Nov. 8

The Penn State DuBois Office of Student Engagement will welcome students and members of the public to Hiller Auditorium on Wednesday, Nov. 8, for a musical, multimedia and scientific adventure, from the birth of the universe to the age of the dinosaurs and to the modern world. There is free admission, and this event is open to the public.

Class of 2024 votes to establish the UPUA Basic Needs Endowment

At an event held on Oct. 31, leaders from the Student Philanthropy Network announced that the class of 2024 has voted to create the University Park Undergraduate Association Basic Needs Endowment as their class gift. The fund will provide sustained support for students facing hardships in pursuit of their degree.

Oftentimes, some of the most impactful statements we hear are those that come from someone who experiences something firsthand. On Oct. 18, students, faculty and staff gathered at the Schoch Plaza on the campus of Penn State DuBois to take part in a victimology event in which they heard firsthand testimonials from victims of domestic and sexual abuse.

University Libraries’ Tech Academy helps incoming students bridge technology gap

When Penn State leaders made the decision to shift to remote learning for summer 2020 classes, Penn State instruction leaders realized they needed to rethink strategies for student support. Fortunately, an already-successful Penn State University Libraries-based technology training initiative, Tech Academy, had been introducing basic technology tools and skills to incoming students since 2017, and was ready to be transformed for online training needs.
