In OT 107, sophomore students are introduced to community mobility accessibility with an interactive experience with the Area Transportation Authority.
OTA and engineering students complete interprofessional collaborative projects in OT 107 and OT 202. These projects involve students creating assistive devices or adapted equipment for those with disabilities.
This is an example of students having opportunities to present OT related topics at the local, state, and national level. These students and faculty presented a Carfit poster at the POTA conference.
Students in OT 107 complete a low vision simulation activity. This requires them to prepare a snack while experiencing low vision diagnoses. This lab is completed in the OT House kitchen.
In OT 107, the students receive a presentation on orthotics and prosthetics from a professional in the field. They are presented with opportunities to handle the technology.
In OT 109 students learn about the rule of legislation and advocacy as it relates to the profession of OT. In September 2016, these students and faculty attended OT Hill Day in Washington D.C. to advocate for the field of OT.
