Christina Voorhees is a Certified Wildlife Biologist® with experience in the fields of wildlife management, human dimensions of natural resources, and recreation management. Chris received an Associate Degree in Wildlife Technology from Penn State DuBois, a Bachelor of Science in Wildlife Science from Virginia Tech, Master of Science in Forest Resources from Penn State, and a Ph.D in Recreation, Park, and Tourism Management from Penn State. Her education and professional experiences have focused on biological and human dimensions research associated with the management of both game and non-game species.
Christina has worked for the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, Penn State University, Devine, Tarbell, & Associates, and CalPoly University. Her field experience includes bat mist netting, bird and herp surveys, small mammal trapping, elk and grouse radio-telemetry, and a variety of deer management projects. In addition, Christina has 10 years of experience in human dimensions research focusing on deer management, hunting, and recreational visitor use assessments.
Christina is currently the Chief Operating Officer for Wildlife Specialists, LLC, a natural resource consulting company that primarily provides support to the energy development industry. Her role is to develop and maintain client relations, manage staff, and coordinate projects. Christina also holds several volunteer positions in the wildlife community.
She is an At-Large Board Member of the PA Chapter of the Wildlife Society, a member of Mammal Technical Committee of the Pennsylvania Biological Survey, and serves on the advisory board for the Penn State DuBois Wildlife Technology Program.
Dale Simbeck '69 ENG was the recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award
Dale R. Simbeck is a partner and vice president of technology of SFA Pacific Inc., which he co-founded in 1980, and is an international expert in global climate change issues, CO2 mitigation, and clean energy technologies.
SFA Pacific specializes in evaluation services in the oil refining, power generation, environmental control, petrochemical and renewable energy industries. The company has provided technical consulting services and conducted in-depth multi-client programs and reports addressing global and regional issues in fuels, chemicals, and electric power to individual companies; government entities including Australia, China, Canada, the European Union, Japan, Qatar, New Zealand and the United States; and universities including Princeton, Pitt, MIT, Carnegie Mellon, and Stanford.
A high point of Simbeck’s career came in 2007 when the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) shared the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize with Vice President Al Gore Jr. Simbeck was one of the lead authors on the 2005 IPCC Special Report on CO2 Capture and Storage.
In addition to the IPCC report, Simbeck has authored numerous professional publications and technical reports and has made many national and international presentations on the technical and economic challenges of CO2 mitigation and clean energy technologies, including keynote presentations at the Gasification Technology Conference, the International Conference on Greenhouse Gas Technologies, and the International Fluidized Bed Combustion Conference.
Simbeck is an advisor to the Canadian Clean Power Coalition and a member of the External Advisory Board to both the MIT Energy Lab and the energy industry CO2 Capture Project.
A life member of the Penn State Alumni Association, he and his wife, Marilyn, live in Palo Alto, Calif. Their Son, Rick, and his wife, Mei, also live in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Carrie A. Wood '02 BUS is the CEO of Timberland Federal Credit Union in DuBois. She attained a dual bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and Spanish from Juniata College in 1998. In 2002, she completed her Masters in Business Administration from The Pennsylvania State University, DuBois campus.
Carrie started her credit union career in 1998 with Timberland FCU as their Director of Marketing. In 2000, she assumed the responsibilities of the Information Technology Department, as well as retaining her marketing job. Upon receiving her MBA in 2002, she began her management career as Assistant Manager. She began her current position as CEO in June 2003. She completed her Certified Credit Union Executive designation earlier this year.
Carrie is currently serving as Chairman of the Development committee of the DuBois Education Foundation, and President of the Shortway Chapter of Pennsylvania Credit Union Association. She is a past President of the Penn State DuBois Alumni Society. She volunteers with the GFWC Curwensville Woman’s Club and the Curwensville United Methodist Church, as well as serving on various professional committees.
Carrie’s other “full time” job is a busy mother of two, Parker 7 and Isabella 4.

Aaron Beatty graduated from ICM School of Business and Medicine in 2003 with Honors. I majored in Business and Marketing. I joined the family business in 2005 as the Human Resource Director for Beatty Restaurant Enterprises and LiJo Incorporated. I also work as the Shop Manager for the Treasure Lake Golf Courses.
I do as much non-profit work as my schedule allows. We started the Kraig Moore Memorial Scholarship Fund in 2004. We help a deserving high school student each year that is interested in Broadcast in Journalism which was Kraig's passion. I have also served The Anchor Center Board, an community center in downtown DuBois.

Stephen Philip Johnson, Vice President for Cornell University Government and Community Relations, directs the University’s legislative efforts and coordinates its involvement with government-focused higher education associations. Working from offices on the Ithaca, Albany, and in Washington, DC, the Office of Government and Community Relations serves as liaison between Cornell and elected officials and agencies at the state, federal and community levels. He also represents the Weill Cornell Medical College in New York City.
In his 41-year tenure at Cornell, Steve has been closely associated with the Cornell Cooperative Extension Program, state relations, and federal advocacy. An alumnus of The Pennsylvania State University, he also holds a master’s degree in public administration from the Maxwell School at Syracuse University. He serves on the boards of the local economic development agency, Tompkins County Area Development, and Excell Partners, a regional economic development partnership focused on Upstate NY.
Steve lives with his spouse, Lorraine in Lansing, NY. They have two adult sons, Chris and Marc.

David L. Roush ’04, COM Lib, is an instructor of media communications and video production at Harry Sx Truman High School and a freelance news reporter and anchor at News 12 Networks in New York City. Roush began his career during his freshman year at DuBois Area High School working as a freelance writer for the Courier-Express and on-air personality at Sunny 106 WDSN. After graduation from Penn State, he transitioned into television as the DuBois Region Bureau Chief Reporter for WJAC-TV Channel 6 News covering a four county area. Roush also served as a contributing author to “The Sinfonian” magazine, the national alumni publication of the Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia Fraternity.
In 2007, Roush moved to the largest television market in the country as a reporter with News 12 the Bronx. There he covered a broad range of news, including Mayor Michael Bloomberg, President George W. Bush and Pope Benedict XVI. After covering several stories at Truman High School, he accepted the role of instructor for the school’s brand new media communications academy.
Roush has received numerous awards and recognitions. He was selected as a 2013 New York City “Big Apple Awards” nominee for excellence in teaching. He received first-place honors from the Collegiate Fraternal Editors Association for a personality profile he penned for The Sinfonian Magazine. Roush represented Penn State with a first-place finish in the 2002-2003 William Randolph Hearst Journalism Awards Competition in the Radio Broadcast News Feature category. Additionally, his students were nominated for a New York Emmy Award and have won thousands in scholarship prizes from various video contests.
Roush is a life member of the Penn State Alumni Association. He is an alumni volunteer with the Penn State New York City Admissions Office and has sent several of his students on to various Penn State locations including the DuBois Campus. He remains active with the Phi Mu Alpha New York City Alumni Association.
Roush is the son of Karen Gralla and the late Donald Roush. He has three brothers, Donald Roush ’07 Bus, Lib, Matthew Roush and Mike Gralla, both Clarion University graduates. He currently lives in the Throggs Neck neighborhood of the Bronx.

John W. Bean, Chairman of Symmco Inc. Currently, semi-retired, John W. Bean is Chairman of Symmco, Inc., a leading manufacturer of powdered metal engineer parts, located in Sykesville, Pa. He began his career at Ideal Products, Inc. retiring as President after 40 years of service.
Residing in Sarasota, FL since 1994, his current pursuits include serving on the board of Children First, the Head Start provider for Sarasota County, three times nationally recognized as a Program of Excellence. Additionally, he is a Trustee of the New College Foundation in Sarasota, supporting the Honors College of the Florida State system.
In the recent past, Bean has served as Trustee of Washington and Jefferson College in Washington, PA, where he received his BA in Political Science and Economics in 1965, and Vice Chair of the Board of the Marie Selby Botanical Gardens in Sarasota, FL a leading research institution of epiphytes; orchids and bromeliads. Bean served in the US Army in various overseas and domestic assignments.
He has enjoyed his long and productive association with Penn State DuBois, supporting the continuing efforts of the DuBois Educational Foundation and the Materials Engineering program thorough his association with Symmco, Inc. He and his wife Alexandra enjoy their family; daughter Tara, son in law Greg, grandchildren Peter, Yuri and Sava and great grandchildren Devin and Amanda. They also enjoy their Pomeranians, Kalinka and Misha.
