Assistant Teaching Professor of English Jackie Atkins teamed up with Assistant Director of Career Development Anna Akintunde and other faculty and staff members to offer virtual mock interviews for students, helping them to prepare to launch their careers.
The project came about as a means to help tackle a very real issue that community leaders are working on — navigating parenthood the second time around, financially securing a lawyer to obtain guardianship, being able to afford clothes when living on a fixed income, dealing with grief, loss, and addiction in the family while raising small children.
Penn State DuBois HDFS students used virtual technology to remain connected to area agencies, presenting their research on the opioid crisis and finding new ways to help families cope with resulting issues.
Educator of the Year Award Winner Marly Doty in Williamson, WV on a service trip with students and co-workers where they helped to plant a community garden. She said of the photo, “I like that it shows my service side – the one I’m most comfortable in.”
