Penn State DuBois Continuing and Community Education will offer Engineer in Training prep classes beginning in June. The 12-week, 72-hour course will run from 5 until 8 p.m. Mondays and Thursdays from June 3 to Aug. 22. Class dates may change during the week of July.
The recommended textbook for this course is “FE Review Manual: Rapid Preparation for the Fundamentals of Engineering Exam 3rd Edition” by Michael R. Lindeburg, PE
Luke Sicard, the course's instructor and instructor at Penn State DuBois, is a professional engineer who has worked in the field for more than 20 years.
Pennsylvania requires that every engineer, with or without a college degree, must pass the Engineer-in-Training examination as the first step toward licensure in the state. This class is geared toward the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying licensure test and students are responsible for eligibility requirements listed by the state of Pennsylvania. This course will prepare students to sit for the exam by covering the topics of mathematic, mechanics of materials, probability and statistics, thermodynamics/heat transfer, engineering sciences, mass transfer and separation, computational tools, chemistry/chemical reaction engineering, electrical circuits, process design and economics, process control, fluid mechanics/dynamics, safety, health, and environment, and ethics and professional practice.
The cost of this course is $1,750.
