DuBOIS, Pa. — With winter break now in the rear-view mirror, both the men’s and women’s basketball teams at Penn State DuBois are getting set to start the run to the end of the regular season. Both teams will see the spring portion of their schedules start with several road games before returning home to the PAW Center later in January.

Prior to the break for the holidays, the Nittany Lions closed out the month of December by making a trip to visit the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford at the KOA Arena. In a tightly contested matchup, the Nittany Lions secured a hard-fought victory over the Panthers by a final score of 64-59.

Ashton Fortson led the charge for Penn State DuBois, contributing nine rebounds and nine points, while Jaiquil Johnson added 23 points to the scoreboard. Despite a challenging shooting night for the Nittany Lions, shooting just under 30% from the field, their defense and ability to capitalize on turnovers, amassing 18 points off turnovers, proved to be a pivotal factor in the contest.

Both teams exhibited determination and skill, but it was Penn State DuBois' ability to convert turnovers and capitalize on second chances that secured their victory in a closely fought contest.

On the women’s side, the Lady Lions were scheduled to host Butler County Community College at the PAW Center to close out their schedule in December. However, that game had to be cancelled and was not played.

Both the Lady Lions and Nittany Lions will get back on the hardwood tonight when they travel to take on Butler County Community College. The women’s game is scheduled to tip at 5 p.m. and the men’s game will follow at 7 p.m. Both teams will then be part of a weekend double header when they visit Penn State Wilkes-Barre on Friday and travel to Penn State Scranton on Saturday. Game times for Friday are the Lady Lions at 6 p.m. and the Nittany Lions at 8 p.m. On Saturday, the women’s game will begin at 1 p.m. and the men’s game will follow at 3 p.m.
