Penn State's College of Agricultural Sciences recognized the recipient of the Outstanding Senior Award, as well as Outstanding Students in golf course turfgrass management, forest technology and wildlife technology for the 2016-17 academic year.
Penn State DuBois wildlife technology student Alec Baker tags a tranquilized black bear cub as part of his research into the impact that black bears have upon agriculture in Pennsylvania, an independent research project that has earned him an Erickson Discovery Grant.
Alec Baker has had a lifelong interest and passion for the outdoors and its inhabitants, especially black bears. This passion set the Clarion native on a path to enroll in the Wildlife Technology degree program at Penn State DuBois, and eventually led him to earn the Erikson Discovery Grant from Penn State's Office of Undergraduate Education.
