Nicole Shaffer

Nicole A. Shaffer ’06 AD/PR, ’06 HIST serves as the Proposal Development Manager for BerryDunn. Nicole supports the Government Consulting Group, drawing on her experience in sales, marketing communication, training, and client services to develop effective business and marketing strategies and proposals. BerryDunn is a Top 100 Accounting firm and the largest accounting and management consulting firm in Northern New England. Nicole has worked for BerryDunn since January 2019.

Nicole began her career working as a Marketing Associate for University Relations at Penn State University. Nicole also spent time working for The Colonial Williamsburg Foundation and CBRE before starting her career in proposal management in 2014.

Nicole is committed to passing on her knowledge and experience by helping others pursue their goals through her membership with the Association of Proposal Management Professionals (APMP). Nicole regularly speaks at Association of Proposal Management Professionals (APMP) events and has published articles on their website, www.winningthebusiness.com. Nicole will present at the first APMP virtual international conference in July. Shaffer has served as a board member of the New England Chapter of the APMP since 2016, and in 2020, Shaffer was elected President of the Chapter. In 2019, Shaffer was selected as APMP’s global 40 under 40 award winner.

Nicole's support of the Penn State DuBois Alumni Society started before her second birthday. Nicole regularly attended events with her dad, Dave Shaffer, as he served as the Director of University Relations. When it was time for Nicole to go to college, she attended Penn State DuBois before transferring to University Park in order to finish her degrees. While at PSU DuBois, Nicole served as a Lion Ambassador. Nicole served as a Penn State Alumni Admission Volunteer for 4 years while she lived in Virginia.

Nicole gives back to her community by volunteering on the TD Beach to Beacon Organizing Committee, the Baxter Memorial Library (Gorham, Maine) Board of Trustees, and for the Boston Marathon. She previously served on the Maine Track Club board and was a Big Sister for Big Brother Big Sisters of America.

Nicole lives with her partner, Matt, and their three dogs, Guinness, Stella, and Teddy in Gorham, Maine. In her spare time, she enjoys snowshoeing, backpacking, running, and is currently attempting to summit all 67 mountains in New England that are considered 4,000 footers.
