Three individuals were recognized by the Penn State DuBois Alumni Society on Oct. 12 for their success and steadfast support of the campus at the annual Alumni Awards ceremony, held during the Penn State DuBois Benefit Celebration at the DuBois Country Club. Richard Ogden received the Lifetime Achievement Award, Anita McDonald the Distinguished Ambassador Award, and Craig Hicks the Outstanding Alumni Award.
Longtime campus supporter Charles Snapp has made a $50,000 gift in support of the North Central PA LaunchBox Powered by Penn State DuBois. This gift will double thanks to a matching program offered by Penn State, resulting in the $100,000 Charles E. Snapp LaunchBox Endowment.
The Penn State Board of Trustees approved the selection of Kimmel, Bogrette Architecture + Site of Blue Bell, Pennsylvania, to design a renovation of the Multipurpose Building at Penn State DuBois.
With a $25,000 gift, the Fairman Family Foundation Endowment for the North Central PA LaunchBox Powered by Penn State DuBois has been established. This makes the Fairman Family Foundation the inaugural donor to support this initiative, with other donors in line to make similar commitments.
Former Penn State DuBois campus executive officer Joseph Strasser died June 21 in Voorhees, New Jersey. He was 78 years old. He came to Penn State following a long career in the U.S. Navy.

The generosity of donors and the impact of philanthropy were celebrated at the annual Penn State DuBois Scholarship Luncheon on Thursday, April 11, at the DuBois Country Club. The luncheon brings together scholarship recipients with donors, giving them the chance to meet each other, and provides students with the opportunity to personally thank many of the people who made their scholarships possible.
Farmers National Bank has contributed $2,500 in support of Penn State DuBois youth programs through a Pennsylvania state tax credit program. The Educational Improvement Tax Credit (EITC) program is administered by the Department of Community and Economic Development, and allows businesses to contribute to specified educational institutions in lieu of regular state tax payments.
Penn State DuBois alumnus Richard W. Ogden, of Clearfield, Pennsylvania, has established the Richard W. Ogden Family Open Doors Scholarship at Penn State DuBois. Penn State has made a 2:1 match to Ogden’s initial gift as part of the recently concluded Open Doors Scholarship Program, creating a full $100,000 endowment.
Pledging $30,000, husband and wife Ian Kephart and Danielle Fahr Kephart have established an Open Doors Scholarship at Penn State DuBois. As part of the recently concluded Open Doors Scholarship Program, Penn State has made a 2:1 matching contribution to their gift, creating a full $90,000 endowment under the Ian Kephart and Danielle Fahr Open Doors Scholarship.
