Palumbo Charitable Trust grows scholarship fund at Penn State DuBois

The A.J. and Sigismunda Palumbo Charitable Trust has committed an additional $50,000 to a scholarship fund that will help students earn an education at Penn State DuBois. The Palumbo Scholarship at Penn State DuBois was established in 2008 with a $25,000 gift from the Palumbo Charitable Trust. To date, the trust has gifted more than $525,000 to campus scholarship funds.

Penn State planning to freeze 2020-21 tuition to help ease COVID-19 hardships

Due to the economic challenges facing Pennsylvania and the nation, Penn State President Eric J. Barron announced plans today (April 23) to freeze tuition rates for all students University-wide for the 2020-21 academic year. The plan, which will be presented to the University’s Board of Trustees for final approval at its July meeting, would mark the third consecutive year that Penn State has held tuition rates flat for Pennsylvania resident students.

Barron announced some salary adjustments; a 3% across-the-board cut to university budgets in the next fiscal year; and his intention to work with the Board of Trustees to freeze tuition for the 2020-21 academic year to limit student costs.

As the rapidly evolving novel coronavirus outbreak continues to make headlines across the globe, Penn State Executive Vice President and Provost Nicholas P. On Feb. 3, all students, faculty and staff members at every Penn State campus location will receive an email to take the Penn State Community Survey to share their attitudes and experiences of community, diversity and inclusion at Penn State. This #GivingTuesday, Penn State DuBois will celebrate giving by supporting the campus Future Fund and Honors Scholarship. #GivingTuesday is a global day of giving that harnesses the collective power of individuals, communities and organizations to encourage philanthropy and to celebrate generosity worldwide. Following Thanksgiving and the widely recognized shopping events Black Friday and Cyber Monday, this year’s #GivingTuesday will kick off at 6:55 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 2, and run through Dec. 3.

Mengle Foundation commits $15,000 to support North Central PA LaunchBox

The Glenn and Ruth Mengle Foundation of St. Marys, Pennsylvania, has made a $15,000 gift to support the North Central PA LaunchBox Powered by Penn State DuBois. These funds will be used to enhance the downtown LaunchBox location with state-of-the-art technical equipment that will be made available to entrepreneurs and business representatives using the facility.

Scholarship established in honor of Janice Elizabeth Erickson

Francie Spigelmyer and her husband, Dave, have established the Janice Elizabeth Erickson Scholarship in memory of Francie’s sister, Janice, by making a $12,500 pledge to Penn State DuBois. Consideration for the scholarship will be given to full-time undergraduate students at Penn State DuBois and will assist in making education affordable and accessible for recipients.
