The Jump Start Program

HOW DO I KNOW IF I’M ELIGIBLE? 
  
You are eligible if you are a high school junior or senior with a GPA of 2.8 or higher 

HIGH SCHOOL JUNIORS:  take 1 course during both fall and spring of your junior year, as authorized by your school district* 
HIGH SCHOOL SENIORS:  take up to 8 credits per semester (including the summer between the junior and senior year)* 
… with a 50% tuition reduction!

*In order to continue in the program, you must receive a grade of “C” or better in each course. 

WHY SHOULD I PARTICIPATE? 

Save money on your future college tuition by taking courses at 50% off the regular Penn State DuBois tuition rate. And if you decide to attend Penn State DuBois, you will automatically receive a $1,500 scholarship your first semester

  • Ease your transition from high school into college 
  • Shorten the time to achieve your college degree** 
  • Earn credits toward college graduation requirements** 
  • Transfer credits to other institutions** 

**It is the responsibility of the individual student to check with their school of choice to find out if class credits will count in his/her selected program. 

HOW DO I START? 

Make sure you qualify - 

  • Are you a high school junior or senior? 
  • Is your GPA at least 2.8? 

Meet with your guidance counselor to obtain a letter of permission and a copy of your high school transcript.  (Juniors also need a copy of PSSA or PSAT or SAT scores.) 

Determine whether your school district participates in the dual enrollment program; you may be eligible for additional funding to further offset course costs.  

Call Penn State DuBois, 814-375-4720, to set up an appointment with an admissions counselor. 

Meet with a representative of Penn State DuBois Admissions Office to schedule a course. Bring your letter of permission, transcript  (and scores, if applicable) with you.
